CASSIA ANGUSTIFOLIA (Senna leaves)
Senna leaves have been traditionally used as an herbal laxative to support regularity and also for skin problems, jaundice, bronchitis, liver disease, splenomegaly, typhoid fever and anemia.
Several species used as senna aqre:
(i) C. angustifolia (Indian senna, Tinnevelley senna, Deshi variety, Mindhi avala)
(ii) C. senna or C. acutifolia (Alexandrian seena, Vilayati variety, sonamukhi)
(iii) C. italica (iv) C. obovata (v) C. holosericea.
Tincture of Senna (C. angustifolia) is used in Homeopathy.
